Trauma Informed Approach Support Programme

Starling Collective in partnership with Corrymeela and a number of other service delivery partners are providing a multi-faceted, pioneering Trauma Informed Approach Support Programme. The programme offers holistic mental health support to the refugee/asylum community and trauma informed approach training to practitioners working in the sector.

Corrymeela is providing innovative trauma informed approach (TIA) training to embed practice, learning and knowledge, build capacity and develop resiliency and sustainability of practitioners working within refugee/asylum sector, by aiming to reduce risk of vicarious trauma and burnout within an under-resourced and exhausted sector. The TIA methodology is seeking to engage a multi-level diverse group of up to 400 service providers and through various platforms and modalities including face -face sessions, online platform, residentials and larger half day training events to embed methodological learning.

We surveyed over 100 people who were seeking asylum or have been granted refugee status to help us co-create and design the programme. To see the results of the survey click the link below.

The services have been co-designed with practitioners, refugees and people seeking asylum, ensuring that all learning and skills development will embed a Trauma Informed Approach methodology, mental health
awareness, resilience techniques and awareness of traumatic stress within the refugee/asylum community and sustainability of services. In addition to providing 15 day trips to places such as Newcastle, Helens Bay, Carrick Castle and Museums, Starling Collective manages a cohort of six Service Delivery Partners as they provide trauma informed mental health support services.  Details of all the partners and their services are provided in the link below:
